Setting

In this passage it is set in Allendale, California. Where it is the year 2026, but a lot has happened to the world in the eight years from now where Allendale ,California, is a wasteland. As it describes it ‘the house stood alone in a city of rubble and ashes’, it also mentions that at night it gives of a radioactive glow! While the environment is clear of human life, it gives an almost post apocalyptic scenario where the house continues to do daily functions for the long gone owner. There is an obvious feel that the piece has been written a while is the past as it refers to ‘relays ticking, memory tapes gilded under electric eyes’. As well the fixation on saying the wedge is Aluminum, which most older pieces of writing stress about. Then the speaker says things like ‘Anniversary of Tilda's Marriage’ as Tilda is a name that isn’t common in our modern times, yet the time the book is set in in only 8 Years and 57 days in the future*!
