Wonders of the World
Learning Intentions:
- To research a topic of my choice, take brief notes and write an explanation detailing who, where, what, why, when and how, and explaining to the reader why this is considered a ‘wonder’ of the world.
- To write in paragraphs, using topic sentences to introduce each paragraph (NOT paragraph headings)
Task:
Choose one of the many wonders of the world listed below.
Research information – two different sources (they don’t have to be internet ones)
Take brief notes – on paper or google docs
Write your explanation. Make sure you are explaining about the place / building etc and not just writing a report about it.
Check that you have
- Introduced the topic (general)
- Explained who, what, where, why, when & how – some of these may not be relevant to your topic
- Concluded the topic with an explanation of why you or others consider this to be a ‘wonder’ of the world.
Success Criteria
- Sentence punctuation is used – full stops and capital letters
- Capital letters have been used for all proper nouns
- Commas have been used before FANBOYS
- Ideas are elaborated (fully described or explained)
- Specific vocabulary has been attempted / used
